Singer and songwriter John Denver touched millions of people, and achieved superstar status through his pop-folk songs based on folk, many of them based in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. is a New Mexican born artist and songwriter who fell in love with Colorado. Denver's state anthems have inspired people to travel to Colorado. G. Brown of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame states the fact that John Denver is unlike any other performer who has the recognizable image of Colorado. Denver, the Hall of Fames' inaugural inductee was recognized with the award in the year 2011. Many consider Denver to be the Colorado image. When you encounter people from other nations, for instance New Zealanders and ask them "I come Colorado" and they say "I am from Colorado" and they reply by saying Oh John Denver. Brown said. Take Me Home Country Roads written by co-writer Bill Danoff - was Denver's first Top 10 single as a solo singer after a brief stint in small folk bands. Danoff wrote the tune inspired by Johnny Cash, but Denver could hear an early version and knew the song would be one of the Top 10 hits. The singer recorded the song only a few days afterward following a performance to the awe-inspiring crowd at Washington D.C.
