Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson is the daughter of British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby (born in Paris) and Chris Watson (born in Paris). As a young girl of just five when she left for Oxfordshire and attended her first Dragon School. Emma was inspired to become an actor when she was six. For several years she was enrolled in the Oxford branch Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. In the school, she was taught singing, dancing and acting. At the age of 10 years old, Emma took part in numerous Stagecoach plays and productions. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the film adaptation of J.K. Rowling's bestselling British novel began casting in 1999. Emma was initially discovered as a casting representative by her Oxford teacher of drama. David Heyman told Emma along with Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe after they all had eight straight auditions. Emma's first cinematic appearance was in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in the year 2001. It broke all records in terms of the opening weekend and revenues, and was the most-recorded 2001 movie. The critics were impressed by the performance of the film as well as its story. The Daily Telegraph, an influential British publication, described Emma's acting "amazing". Emma received five nominations for her outstanding performance. In the end, she received the Young Artist Award in Leading Young Actresses of the Film.
